Wenche Faiola, RN - Bookkeeping, Landscape, Keep doctor in line
Wenche grew up in the small village of Mysen, about 45 miles southwest of Oslo, Norway. Since her parents as well as uncles and aunts were healthcare professionals, it was natural for Wenche to pursue the same line of work. While studying at Newbold College in Bracknell, England, she met her future husband, Richard Faiola. Encouraged by Richard, she moved to California, where she later received her RN from Pacific Union College in the Napa Valley. She and Richard married after graduating from college.
While Richard studied medicine, Wenche worked as an RN, both at the pediatric unit at the Loma Linda University Medical Center, in Southern California – a position she still recalls with great fondness. She worked as a psychiatric nurse at Hinsdale Adventist Hospital, in Hinsdale, IL, while Richard completed his specialty training. Wenche gave birth to their first child, daughter Anne-Marie, while in Illinois. Three years later, with Richard at Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri, she gave birth to their son, Erik.
After moving to Chehalis, WA, in 1981 Wenche, besides full time homemaking, worked as a school nurse, head-room mother, and president of the Lewis Country Medical Alliance. In 1996, she added to her natural gardening skills the University of WA course work to become a Master Gardener. She has applied her horticultural talents to design and maintain the landscaping surrounding HFM.
When she isn’t working for HFM, Wench enjoys nearly any outdoor activity and is an avid birder. She keeps her ties to Norway alive by serving as the social director of the Sons of Norway Hovedstad Lodge 94 in Olympia.
