Our Financial Policies

Heritage Family Medicine strives to maintain affordable access to top quality primary care services by strict enforcement of its financial policies. For a more in-depth discussion on managing healthcare costs, we encourage you to read HFM's "Philosophy on Medical Economics."

Payment is due at the time of service, in full, by cash, check, credit or debit card.

If the charges to one family on one day exceed $300.00 (very unusual) we will permit the amount in excess of $300.00 to be paid in three equal monthly installments of not less than $50.00 each. Prepared, dated, envelopes will be provided for this purpose. Failure to return these envelopes on the intended schedule will result in ONE warning letter requesting immediate payment in full, followed by referral to a collection agency. We have concluded that it is unfair to all other patients to maintain higher fees for all in order to compensate for the financial irregualrity of a few.

Patients with insurance coverage are welcome

Heritage Family Medicine participates fully in most insurance programs, including Uniform Medical Plan, Pemera, Regence, Aetna, First Choice, etc. HFM is accepting no NEW Medicare patients at this time EXCEPT for those who have joined one of the Medicare Advantage Plans of Sound Health Partners. The excellent plans of PSHP (administered by Physicians of Southwest Washington), can be reviewed at their website, click here. They are also prepared to discuss their programs with potential participants at their local Olympia office at: 2111 Harrison Ave. NW, Olympia, WA 98502, Phone: 360-943-4337. HFM accepts Labor and Industry cases for injuries less than one year old.

HFM is currently closed to additional patients on DSHS or Molina. Regretfully, as DSHS pays far less than our costs, such patients must understand that we may not always be able to continue their care with that payment source.

HFM also is a founding participant in DirectcareMD whereby all billing issues are resolved by a simple monthly fee as low as $30.00 per person. Click HERE for more information.

e-Consults and e-Rx Refills

As both e-Consults and e-Rx Refills are accessed only through a pre-authorized credit or debit card, no specific financial policies are required.

Please remember: e-mail is our preferred method of communication. You will not be charged for follow up questions or concerns related to a problem recently discussed in the office, nor will you be charged for refill prescriptions necessary to complete a previously agreed upon course of treatment. Charges apply for "new" issues, or "overdue" medication refills, that typically would have been handled in an office visit.
